Reconciliation Agreements Family Law

What is a Reconciliation Agreement?

Reconciliation agreements are entered into after marital problems have arisen, but in hopes of salvaging the marriage. The purpose is to bring the parties together, although the agreement itself seeks to determine the rights of each spouse with regard to property division, spousal support, and other related issues in the event of divorce or death.

Reconciliation agreements, as a whole, do not violate public policy. Reconciliation in the face of an impending separation or divorce may serve as adequate consideration for the contract.
